The Day In Photos........
Yesterday, July 29, I never finished flying until 8 PM. Here is the day in photos.
I ended up in Bissett in the AM, helping haul Boy Scouts Of America.

Beautiful weather, and the rivers are dropping!
Later on, at Silver Falls, the "hangar boys" were inspecting Adventure Air's Walter Turbine Otter C-GSUV..........

Last trip of the day, dropping off good friend Ralph Penner and his wife and son at Gordon Lake.............
You know, a "floatplane", against a "dock", against a "rock", in the "bush", well, it is "postcard" perfect, and it all fits. Where would "road-inaccessible" Canada be without the "floatplane"?

Today I Meet A "New" Friend
Late yesterday afternoon I heard there was a "new" girl coming to town. "Huh", I thought, "tomorrow I will have to check her out"!
5 AM this morning, I looked out the window of the Float Base after arriving. There, in the dim light and rain, she stood. "New" girl in town C-FYLZ. I thought I would get closer and use some of my "charm".
"Hi, honey, you come here often?" I said. She ignored me. My luck! Fine-looking Standard Otter, though, although it has the Baron STOL Kit and 7170 stretched floats. Pretty smooth fuselage.
"Classic" front end!
Dawn on the horizon.
Tethered.
Apparently this aircraft has a new owner, and it was flown to Silver Falls from Nueltin Lake, in Northern Manitoba. The new owner wants it converted to a Walter Turbine once float season is wrapped up. "Hey, no problem!" The boys in the hangar can handle it! This Otter was born in 1958, and is Serial # 247!
C-FYLZ has her wheel-gear along, for moving about the hangar yard.
And one last YLZ photo! Her "nerve center". Typical instrument panel and control layout on a Standard Otter!
I was flying the "Turbine" today, C-GBTU. It was a typical day, except for one item. The "return" of our docks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHHEE-ITT!! Our docks return from the deep! It might not seem like a big deal to you, but it is to us! Hopefully, no more rubber boots and wet feet!!
The water is dropping, things are looking up!

"Flawless" Shuttle Launch...........
TRIVIA TIME! Do you know what shuttle first returned to the skies with the weight of the future of America's Space Program riding it's robust structure after the Challenger disaster? Give up? Shuttle Discovery! And which vehicle is first returning to space after the Columbia disaster? Bingo!, Shuttle Discovery. Shuttle Columbia was my favourite Shuttle, as it was the prototype, and the heaviest-lift Shuttle, but Discovery is certainly filling in well after Columbia's loss. Commander Eileen Collins and her crew have made it to space, after a near flawless lift-off!

Kenny and the boys in the hangar were busy today with an inspection on Adventure Air's Beaver, C-FXPC. XPC has the AOG Air MK 2000 Kit installed, and the boys worked furiously on her.
XPC sits in the hangar, as she is inspected by the Mechanics.

Fine shot of her Pratt and Whitney R-985 "Wasp" Junior engine of 450 HP.
TRIVIA TIME! What is this? No, it isn't a hive for leaf-cutter bees, you crazy farmers! It is the Beaver oil-cooler!
XPC is on Edo 4930 "Turbo" Beaver floats, and for my money, these are the floats all Beavers should be on. I have lots of time on these floats, and the smaller 4580 floats, and for safety, the 4930s make the grade!
Then, I thought I would go see how the progress was on the 2nd Otter wing the boys are overhauling.
The boys are well into her...........

Then, I wandered back to my trailer, as I had "trail dust" in my throat, I was very thirsty, and I kept hearing Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson singing "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere....."........ I cracked a "road rocket", and man, it tasted good! Till next time,
