Steve's Video Of The Day: "Shanghai Lil'!"
This beautiful "artifact" you see flying, Douglas DC-3 VH-AES, was nicknamed "Shanghai Lil'" during it's "storied" WWII service. It then flew for civilian airlines, and was retired in 1970. In 1979 it was erected on a pedestal as a tourist attraction. Similar to a "circus exhibit", so to speak. Some retired Captains figured that was humiliating and a fate worse than being "scrapped", so they did something about it. VH-AES was brought down, "rehabbed", and today she "augers" through the skies once again. Fantastic! Pay close attention to the "announcer"!
