Steve's Video Of The Day: Joe Kittinger: "First" Man in Space, and the Ultimate "Meat Missile!"

The beginning of "outer space" is internationally recognized as the Karman Line, and is 100 km above sea level. It was named after Theodore von Karman, engineer and physicist. Yuri Gagarin, Russian Cosmonaut, is recognized as the first man in space, due to his 1961 liftoff in the Vostok 1. He would orbit the earth, and return safely. One year before, American Joe Kittinger accomplished an amazing feat. He rode a balloon to 102,800 feet and ...."JUMPED"! He landed safely. He reached speeds of 600+ mph. Therefore, in my eyes, Joe Kittinger was the "First Man in Space". The "Ultimate Meat Missile", so to speak!
