Steve's Video Of The Day: Aerial "Tree-Pruning" and the "Wyoming Wind Sock"!
Well, "Spring" seems to be in the air during the day here in Manitoba, although the temps still drop to about -25*C overnight, daytime highs 0*C to -5*C. Soon the snow will melt, and the trees will "bud". I live on 3 acres of riverfront property on the Icelandic River. It is "treed", with numerous tree species, including plum, crab-apple, and "elm" trees. Last fall I "pruned" a number of the crab-apple trees, and started on the elm trees. The problem was, the "elms" are huge, and I don't have a ladder long enough to access the trees properly. You basically need a Fire Department "ladder truck" to access my trees. Then, I had a "brilliant" (?) idea. I would "prune" my elms "aerially". No, I am serious. Well, put it this way, my "body-cast" was just removed, and I am starting to be able to walk on my own again. Hopefully, I will be able to fly an Otter this summer. Yes, I had a small "mishap" during the "inaugural pruning flight". Check it out!
