Steve's Video Of The Day: Cessna 185 Amphib "Abrupt" Landing!

On Friday, November 4th, I published a post entitled "Check Gear Down!" (Or Should That Be "Check Gear-Up"?). Basically it stated that everyone makes mistakes, just that in some professions the impact of those mistakes can possibly be deadly, but we are all human. An intense and in-depth company training program, along with a "CHECKLIST" are 2 of the easiest methods to help to eliminate mistakes, or at least lower their frequency. The "float industry" in Canada has become very complacent, as checklists may be in the aircraft, but they are seldom, if ever, used. Add "amphib floats" to this scenario and "presto", someone gets wet. This is not video of the pictures from the post Nov. 4, but it is basically a carbon-copy of what would have happened. The Nov. 4 post was about a DHC-2 Beaver, this video details the gear-down landing of a Cessna 185. Grab an umbrella!
