A Float Pilot "Sick Of Water"? Who'd A' Thunk It?
Yes, I am getting sick of excess water. Another 4 inches of rain in the last couple of days, with embedded CB's, and high winds. As my old buddy Billy "The Goose" McNish used to say; "Just a fine 'kettle of fish', now, hey fellas? Just a fine 'kettle of fish'!"
Anyways, morning came this AM, and here is what I saw at 4:40 AM.

My airplane, which I may have to swim to!

BTU, in a slightly better predicament!

The loader was my method of transport to HYB. I got in the bucket, and Ed put me on the platform by HYB.

The view of our Base from the float of HYB. Damn water!

A "view from the float"..............

Later, when I returned from a trip, the Manitoba Hydro Dam downstream from us at Powerview, had 2 gates wide open, and 3 partials. Go figure! Anyway, now you know why a Float Pilot is getting annoyed by too much water!
One other item, I received an e-mail the other day from my old buddy Shiloh Tegart, who is now flying a Twin Otter for North Cariboo Air. We worked together for a number of years, and Shiloh was, and still is, an outstanding pilot. I remember many hilarious episodes that I won't go into here that we had. Anyhow, good for Shiloh, flying a beautiful DeHavilland Canada aircraft, made for the bush! Here is the e-mail!

Hi Steve,
You would love this old airplane. The guy doing my line indoc has 5000 hrs on floats in one of these. This was my first revenue trip! Lots of fun in the mountains!!!
Talk at ya later. Shiloh

Shiloh and his "Mount"!

Shiloh, with a "shit-eatin' grin"! (I would be wearing one, too, if I was flying a Twin Otter!) Congratulations, Shiloh!!! Till next time, Adios!!
