Steve's Video Of The Day: How "NOT" To Hand-Prop An Airplane!

In the early days of aviation, aircraft didn't have an electrical system and starter, and aircraft engines were started by turning on the magnetos and a ground crew member would swing the prop to start the engine. Later there were hand-cranked inertia starters, pneumatic inertia starters, cartridge-starting systems (Coffman charges), among others. Today, in a pinch, if your battery fails, on a piston engine you can still start it by hand-propping it. Here is how NOT to do it!
