Lake Winnipeg: The "Lumbering Giant" Does Not Yet "Slumber"........
Lake Winnipeg is not yet frozen, and at this time of year during a storm "fury is unleashed". During the "placid" days it can be quite picturesque along the shoreline. Here is what I saw today.

Unusual ice formations.

Quite extreme.

Unique as a snowflake.

Hanging ice.

A tree wearing an "icen" dress.

Ice-laden breakwater.

The "Goldfield" in hibernation mode for winter.

Sand-bags that will be used in Spring to block ditches if Lake Winnipeg awakens with a "roar" and spills over her perimeter.

Soon she will sleep, but not yet.

Yes, the "Giant" is close to hibernation, but not yet. There will be much more "violent and malevolent roiling and churning" before the "mercury finally plummets", and Winter's "icy grasp" claims Lake Winnipeg until May!
