"Externals, Externals, Externals"..........

Summer is a time when many people decide they would like to travel some of the region's "natural highways", and they opt to "fly out to the bush", and go canoeing. Some of the "highways" of choice are the Bloodvein River, Leyond River, Pigeon River, Berens River, and Poplar River. So, how do they get to the bush with their canoes?

JULY 6, 2007: DESTINATION; Artery Lake, Bloodvein River

"Tied on", and "warming up"!

"Touchdown", Artery Lake. Beautiful cabin built and operated by Jackson's Lodge and Outposts. The frontal deck logs are all "local", salvaged from a "blow-down".

JULY 7, 2007: DESTINATION; Shining Falls, Pigeon River

To tie on the canoes, I use both of my 1/2 inch "double-braid" nylon leg ropes, with a "cinch-line" between them..........

.........and a rear "lasso" rope so the canoe doesn't slide rearward.

"Shining Falls"..........

........and "storms I have outrun"!

"Yee-ha", let's get close to that one!

JULY 11, 2007: DESTINATION; Night Owl Lake, Berens River

Arrival at "Night Owl"...........

Night Owl Rapids is "howling"......... "Oh yeah", recently I have been hauling boats also.........

DESTINATION: Kesch Lake Outpost

"Warming up"..........

The boat is secured with "Herc straps", made of nylon.

Once warmed up, before leaving, I tie on a 1/2 inch "double-braid" nylon "tension" rope between the front ballard and the boat.

Boat delivered safely to Kesch Lake! What excitement has been in your life recently? Let me know.......

"Adios"!
