"Reno, 2006"!

Most people familiar with aviation know of the "Reno Air Races and Airshow" held every year in Nevada. Long before the Red Bull Air Race World Series, which is also a "fantastic spectacle", there was the Reno Air Racing Association National Championships. Well, 2006 was another successful year, the weather was great, and the camera shutters were "clicking". My buddy "Spanky", of "Spanky" Takes Photos At "Oshkosh"! and Finally, Decent Weather (or, "Spanky" Freezes His "Balls") fame, sent me a fine link to a sequence of photos from the 2006 Reno races. They are outstanding, lots of action shots, and "behind the scenes" shots. I can imagine the "shudder" when the Merlin engine "blew" a piston. My favourite "race class" has always been the "Unlimited Class", and in 2006 Mike Brown's modified Hawker Sea Fury "September Fury" took the Unlimited Class Gold Race with a winning speed of 481.619 mph. "Aye, Caramba"! Anyways, check out the photos Spanky alerted me to, all photos taken by Todd Enlund.

Till next time, "Adios"!

(Setting out early, and considering himself a "peer" of that great "circumnavigator" Ferdinand Magellan, "Spanky" figured he could make the 2007 Reno Air Races before the September 12 start date.)
